    • Kommentar : Der Andromedanebel (auch Großer Andromedanebel, Andromeda-Galaxie oder manchmal fälschlich Andromeda-Galaxis) ist eine nach dem Sternbild Andromeda benannte Spiralgalaxie (NGC 224) vom Typ Sb.

    Die Andromeda-Galaxie ist umgeben von mehr als zehn kleineren Satellitengalaxien, von denen zwei elliptische Galaxien als M 32 und M 110 ebenfalls im Messier-Katalog verzeichnet sind und auf dieser Aufnahme zu erkennen sind. M32 ist die kompaktere der beiden und liegt auf dem Foto näher am Kern von M31.
